One more step, baby!
Wednesday, April 06, 2005 I am currently just one step away from graduation. Why one step, even though I have finished all my final exam papers? My final year project, of course. Procrastination has always (and somehow I get the feeling, will always be) been my worst enemy. I had 18 weeks of this semester to finish it up, but what did I do? I waited and waited and waited till the end of the semester, baru la nak fully complete it. Well, what's past is past, can't be undone. The best I can get from the experience I had is to just learn from it, and hopefully not make the same mistake in the future, ever. At least, I have a chance to complete this project during the short semester (which will begin next week), while concurrently doing my industrial training. Yep, I know it'll be damn busy then, since for sure my training's supervisor will assign me some work to be done. I hope I can delegate enough time for both assignments (final year project and work assignments) so that I can satisfy both my training and final year project supervisors' requirements. Speaking about industrial training, have you guys heard of a company called Technip Geoproduction? I'm going for my internship there. I think it's an oil and gas company. Involved in all those drilling thingy like Schlumberger, I suppose. But my post will be to get involved in the design department, which is located at it's main office in KL. Of that I feel grateful, since I can then easily come to Uniten whenever I feel I need to see my final year project supervisor. What's greater still, is that Technip's HR Executive said to me during one of my phone conversations with her that I might be able to join the company, if I perform well during my internship. Yep, I plan to perform extremely well, form close bonds with most of my colleagues during my internship programme, and hopefully can score that employment opportunity. However, I hope they offer extremely well salaries and job perks, since I think I may have to compare and contrast that post with other job opportunities from other companies, particularly TNB, my sponsor. So, anybody know anything about the job prospects there, its salaries, perks, work environment, etc, as related to a mechanical engineer? Fill me up on those information, OK. I need all the help I can get. Enough about that. How did my final paper go? Power Generation exam was great! It must've been one of the most relaxing and confident papers I've ever taken. All along the exam period, I confidently and relaxingly answered all the exam questions, and even had spare time to check my answers for any errors. I rarely feel like this during exams. Most of the time, I won't have time to complete all the questions, and would rush through the exam without having time to check my answers. I think I have the best chance to get an A in this subject. The remaining 3? Control Systems, I envision a B-. Engineering Graphics? A B. Final year project II? A B+, at best. Yep, there goes my quest for graduating with a 3.50 CGPA. Well, that's that then. At least I will be graduating, insyaAllah, with at least a 3.40 CGPA, which is in itself a great achievement. Alhamdulillah... But for now, I still have a fair bit of work to be done. My Engineering Graphics' Pro E project, which is due by the end of this week. It looks like I'll be staying up late tonight to complete it. of course, while watching Chelsea vs Bayern Munich. ;) And I'm hungry! Let's go out and dine guys!
