The inevitable happened...

Monday, June 27, 2005

Hi guys! (or rather, what's left of you guys...) What happened to all of
you? Where have all my regular readers gone? Baru je aku skip writing in my
blog a few weeks, now nobody is visiting my blog... huhu... :'( But I guess
it must've had something to do with me not visiting your blogs. Tu aaa...
I've been so busy lately, but now, the "busy-ness" meter will be cranked
down, due to the event that I am about to tell you...

Remember my project? The one about the software development thingy that
I've been writing about in almost every blog entry? Well, guess what?
(No... I didn't get an A, and no, I haven't completed it yet) I have to
extend 1 semester in order to finish it up! Huhuhu...

In a way, I've almost expected this to happen. I thought I could've
finished it during this short semester period, while concurrently
performing my industrial training. Unfortunately, things weren't as rosy as
I expected it to be. I thought I was going to be able to do my industrial
training in the mornings, and complete my project at night. Apparently I
underestimated the pressures of work life, and how taxing it would be to my
body (I feel tired almost every day after work: necessitating an early
retirement to bed). This is in addition to the time that I have to allocate
in order to help my family prepare for my brother's impromptu wedding
reception: all these contribute towards me not being able to finish up my
project in time.

However, I am not going to put the blame on those events. The blame should
be put squarely on my shoulders. I SHOULD HAVE FINISHED THE PROJECT BY
APRIL! I had months of time to complete it (since November 2004) but what
did I do? I wasted my time, not even trying to finish it up. I played
games, surfing the Net, and generally wasting time, all while thinking that
I was going to be able to finish it within 1 month ("After all," I thought
to myself, "Software development can just be done at home in front of my
PC, so sure boleh siap punye..."). Foolish me. :(

Months turned to weeks, and weeks turned to days, as my project submission
deadline inched closer. When finally it dawned upon me that I will not be
able to finish it in time, I thought to myself that I will be using my
Industrial Training period to complete my project. And we all know what
happened next.

Oh well, what's past is past la. But stil, it is a waste of time and money.
Why? Because I could've graduated earlier, and thus obtain employment
earlier, which means that I will have more work experience that will help
me in getting future jobs (which equals more money - that's why it's also a
waste of money).

As it stands, my plan from now on is this: I am going to complete my
project within this July to October 2005 semester, while hoping that YTN
will pay me the usual RM3000 per semester allowance. I hope they would, but
the prospects of that happening is quite low: after all, I'm not taking any
other subjects - I'm just continuing the project that I registered in
November 2004. If they won't pay me the allowance, I guess I'll have to ask
my parents whether they'll agree to give me a "compassionate allowance" per
month. But I think I will most likely have to search for a part-time
employment while completing this project. I feel kinda guilty of asking my
parents for money, especially when I should've completed my studies
earlier.

I hope the part-time job that I may have to apply for does not pressure me
too much, so that I can concentrate 110% in completing my project. But the
ideal case, of course, would be that YTN pays me their allowance so that I
can fully focus on the project alone and not do any other work.

I can't wait for the new semester to start. Let the games, BEGIN!

Btw, this is my last week at Technip Malaysia. Goodbye Technip, and thanks
for the memories! (or lack thereof... ;))
