Another review... this time it's Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban...
Friday, June 04, 2004 Hi all! Yesterday I just went to Midvalley to do what I said I would do in my previous post: watch Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban (for short, I'll just write HP3). At first, I wanted to go out with a friend of mine, but unfortunately, things didn't work out as planned. So, I went to watch it with my sister. Ughhh... what a waste of RM4, all because my sister didn't bring her student ID. So, instead of paying just RM13, we had to pay RM17. Oh well... About HP3, I must say that it's the best movie compared to the previous two. To those who've yet to watch it or who've yet to read the book, the plot is generally like this: A prisoner from Azkaban, Sirius Black, has escaped and is out in search of Harry Potter. And so, to search for Black, the Ministry of Magic (I think) has used the Dementors, creatures who are approximately like the Ringwraiths or Nazgul in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. All this happens while Harry is studying in Hogwarts in his teenage years. Well, I see the story as that la, coz I haven't read the book yet. As in the previous movies, expect some plot twists. :) Generally, HP3 is a very dark movie, one darker than the previous two. Well, all good I must say, coz I don't prefer kiddie movies. And also, it fits the personalities of the three main stars, Harry, Hermione and Ron, who are now in their early teenage years. The special effects are great, the story is good, and the dark environment serves the story's theme well. All in all, a very exciting movie. One that I recommend to everyone. When I walked around in Midvalley, waiting for HP3's screening time, I came across an Adidas shop. And there I saw the poster I've been waiting for so long to be put up: a poster about the Adidas 3-on-3 streetball challenge. And I felt so disappointed, because I saw that this year, Adidas Malaysia no longer held an open category. They only allow two categories of teams to play: 19 & Under Boys & Girls, and 16 & Under Boys & Girls. No more Open/Non-Chinese category (i.e. no age limit and only for non-Chinese). Very unfair to us who are over 19 years old, coz, especially for people like me, the Adidas 3-on-3 competition is one that we thrive on. We don't have any other competitions to play in, coz we aren't part of the University team. So if things remain as they are, it seems I'll just play basketball like I normally play year after year: at the playgrounds. Oh the despair... :( Well, maybe there is some good to it, because next semester I'm gonna start my final year projects. And I must finish it in the stipulated time, as I do not want to extend my years at Uniten. No, please... I really don't. I've had enough of studying. To date, I've studied for 4 and a half years (2 at KMYS, 2.5 at Uniten, half a year waiting to get into Uniten), and seriously, I've had enough. I want to work! I wanna earn money, I wanna start a family, everything! But not study! Well, maybe not for a year at least, coz I still want to do postgraduate studies... Thus, that's why I have to finish my final year project on time. I cannot be distracted by anything else. No more distractions after my semester starts. NO MORE! Okay, time to get ready for Friday Prayers... Posted by Nikman Shah at 12:09 pm ![]() | *** |
