Internship? At Exxonmobil?

Got a call from Exxonmobil yesterday. It's one of the companies that I sent applications for internship to. They said they've received the application, and probably are processing it. Well, they didn't actually said those words, but I assume the woman on the other end of the phone line meant that, since she asked me to submit a digital copy of my resume and university verification letter via e-mail.

According to her, Exxonmobil generally conduct their internship programme for 6 months. And for those 6 months, she said interns will be going, if I'm not mistaken, to Port Dickson. I think the interns will be going off-shore. Gonna join your line of work then abu! ;)

But since Uniten's internship programme is just within a period of 3 months, she doesn't know whether I'll be able to fit in that 6 months programme. She suggested me working using computers, since I have some computer experience. I told her it would be better if I did something related to mechanical engineering. But I forgot to mention to her, working in front of a computer can also be considered a mechanical engineering line of work, provided it's related, of course. For instance, designing something using Pro Engineer, or performing research, or drawing using AutoCAD. Those are computer-related work.

To tell you the truth, I'd prefer working at a workstation rather than working on-site, although I know that working on-site is beneficial as it will help me gain more experience in mechanical engineering. Ah well, I don't care. As long as I get an internship programme somewhere, it's fine by me. Near the end of this year, and for a period of 1 year thereafter, I'll be going for that PEP (Program Eksekutif Pelatih) for new TNB recruits, so I'll get plenty of experience then.

I hope I do get to be an Exxonmobil intern. And I really hope they don't have an interview session like how Shell has! I hate Shell's interview... :(
