My Final Day

Saturday, July 02, 2005

Today (Friday) was my final day at Technip. My industrial training period has officially ended. How was my training overall? Well, it's good, but it could've been better. I was able to perform some tasks and learn some new things about the career of design engineering, but I think if they were to allow me to perform more work and be involved in more projects, I would get more benefit from the industrial training.

And now comes the time where I'm supposed to complete my training report and logbook, to be submitted to Uniten. And 3 weeks from now, I'll have to perform my industrial training presentation. But all in all, I think I can pass the industrial training, insyaAllah.

But, as my previous post says, I'm still unsure of this final year project of mine. Will I be able to complete it in time? Is the 4 and a half months period enough? Haih...

About working, I think I will put off working until after I complete my project. After some deliberation, I think it would be in my best interests if I only concentrate on completing the project, instead of concurrently working and finishing up the project. My reason is this: if I can't even complete the project while doing industrial training, surely it'll be much worse if I were to work for real. I'll definitely have no time to complete my project, or I'll maybe feel too tired to complete my project after working hours.

But I'll keep my options open. I will apply for jobs, nevertheless, but I just hope that if they were to appoint me (Alhamdulillah...), I will be allowed to put off joining the company until after my project is completed. Especially if the job is a field engineer's job: takkan la nak pegi keje offshore or something while completing my final year project? Crazy!

By now, you must be thinking, apa la mamat ni, keje lambat sket pun nak bising ke. Well, to tell you the truth, I feel envious. And I feel macam dah rugi a lot of time. My friends that graduated from UK universities pun dah balik & mula keje. And they've started work for 1 year already. Me? I haven't even completed my studies! Now with this extended project work, hmph. Lotsa time have been wasted! And mind you, its "career time" we're talking about. If I start work late, I will have less experience. Which will equate to less opportunity to get good job offers. It's all connected, my friends. All connected...

Oh well. Let's hope for the best, and always do those 3 things that all Muslims should do whenever they strive for some target: Usaha, doa & tawakal. Sometimes, no matter how hard you work, it's just not meant to be. But at the same time, we must also always work as hard as we can to achieve our objectives. If we work hard, insyaAllah, it will come true.

OK, I'm feeling tired. Gotta sleep now. From now on, my blog will be constantly updated. Come back often! :)
