Another Interview, Same Results...
Thursday, November 17, 2005 Yesterday I went for the Flextronics interview in Shah Alam. Going there was a cinch. Easy peasy. Took me around 15 - 20 minutes to arrive there. A good enough sign for me, if I were to work there. I can siap late at home then keluar lewat and still arrive on time for work! The session started off with an IQ test. Very easy, though I got 1 question wrong! Boo! Hehe... Later when the interviewer told me the correct answer, then I said to myself "Why didn't I think of that?! Easy maaa..." Also, they had this 1 long employment application form that they want us to fill. What a bad system. Wanting us to fill it there on the spot. If I were the HR Manager there, I would've computerised this type of manual procedure by making the candidates either fill their information in a computer at the office, or email them a form in digital format and let them fill it themselves before coming for the interview. After all, they still want to input these information into the computer, so might as well eliminate this manual intermediary step. Anyway, after that, I was told to wait until my name is called. And so I waited... to be exact, I waited nearly an hour! Huhu... But I'm the interviewee so I can't complain. And when my name was called, I went to meet the interviewer. He's a nice chap. Has a very good command of English, soft-spoken, and very polite. But this time, the interview was not like the interview I went previously in Damansara. This time, there're more technical questions being asked of me. The questions mainly revolve around design and manufacturing processes, as well as some problem-solving questions. The only time he asked me about my personality was when he wanted me to explain a bit about myself. As usual, I stuttered a bit all the way through the interview. Haih... when can I truly start mastering answering questions spontaneously in the most fluent English possible? I can write and speak very good English, but when it comes to talking spontaneously, I always stutter. Huhu... No matter, I'll practice more after this. So there you go. I don't think I did well enough to be called for their 2nd interview. I think I did better than the previous job interview, but still not good enough. But still, I'm not that disheartened lah. I wasn't having that high an expectation for this interview after all. Furthermore, when he described a bit about the job of a Product Verification Engineer there, it struck me that it really was quite a boring job! Most of my time would be spent in the factory itself, I'll have to do routine jobs, solve manufacturing problems, etc. There'll be no overtime, I would be expected to work shifts, and sometimes will be expected to stay on longer than my normal working hours, especially when there are huge problems during production. Boring! If I want to work like that, I might as well stay with TNB. After all, working in a power plant is not much different compared to working in a factory. I told him I am very interested with the job, but truth be told, when I thought hard about it, I can't seem to find myself working there. Let's just hope better offers will come my way.
