Realization sinking in...
Wednesday, December 21, 2005 Hmmm... now I am in a dilemma. As per the new company's (THE one I'm considering to join) policy, new recruits cannot take paid leave during the first year of service. That means, I will have to work, without any paid leave, for the whole 1 year of service, before I will get my first yearly leaves. It's sort of like they want us to earn those paid leaves first, before they are given to us. But the problem is, by doing so, I will not have the flexibility to look for other jobs within my 1st year of service. As you all know, being a fresh graduate means you will be applying to lots of companies, and each of these companies will be replying to you at different times, some early, some late. In the case of THIS particular company I'm considering to join, they replied early, and Alhamdulillah, I got an offer. But what about those other companies that I applied? If I'm also gonna consider them, and if they were to call me for their interviews, will I be allowed to attend them if I were to join THIS company first? I won't have any paid leaves, so I will have to apply for unpaid leave. But being unpaid leave, THEY won't easily approve my leave application. Especially when I give a reason like wanting to go for a job interview. Even if I were to make up fictitious reasons, when I take too much unpaid leaves, surely they would suspect something. That will affect my records, for sure. Why suddenly I become fickle-minded? I got a call from Schlumberger this afternoon, and they want to call me for an interview tomorrow in KL. All of a sudden, realization starts to sink in. All the things I mentioned above start to appear in my mind. So, as of now, I am considering that probably I will not be taking the job offer. I'll try to make up my mind as soon as possible. Probably latest by next week. At least, let me pass this Schlumberger job interview, then I can decide. By the way, anybody have tips for Schlumberger's 1st stage job interview? This is only the 1st stage. I heard there will be four stages of interview. I just hope tomorrow's interview is easy. At least, even if it's not easy, I hope it is still easier than Shell's interview. By far, I think Shell's job/internship interview is the hardest of all. Schlumberger interview tips anybody? Please??? I need tips!!! Posted by Nikman Shah at 11:55 pm ![]() | *** |
