Susah gile siot!

My worst fears have been realised. Contrary to popular belief, Schlumberger's 1st interview stage is VERY HARD! I don't understand why. From what I heard from friends who were previously interviewed by Schlumberger, they claimed that the 1st stage will usually be a breeze: very easy, HR-type of questions. I guess this time I got an interviewer with a different mindset / attitude compared to those other guys.

I'm too lazy to go into the details of my interview, suffice to say that he basically created an environment of pressure within the interview, which I think is a strategy to see how I perform under pressure. Basically, he asked something about my final year project (that you guys know was a wreck to begin with), of which he felt that it was too simple or too unconvincing to be termed an innovative piece of work. From that, I can tell that he expected me to defend myself.

I must say that I performed 50-50 lah in that sense. I didn't performed too well, nor did I suck. I can say that I was in the middle.

Apart from that, there were also questions about whether I'm prepared to work with Schlumberger as a field engineer, what I know about Schlumberger, etc. Those basic things lah.

But the main thing is I really hate this type of interview where they expect us to answer questions under pressure. Yes, it is good in the sense that they can identify which candidates are able to peform when being barraged with questions or uncertainties, but in my opinion, interviews should be conducted in a way that will be comfortable to both parties, especially from the point of view of the candidate themselves, so that they can answer as best as they can. Not like what happened just now, where we were basically arguing: I almost shouted! Hahaha... tu la, sape soh tanye banyak sgt, seb baik aku tak marah balik. Muahahahahahahahahaha!

But oh well, it's their company, so it's their right to interview people the way they see fit.

Let's see what my results will be. So far, I put my chance at 50-50. Haha. I always put my chances in the middle in order to be prepared for any consequences. He said he will notify all candidates of their successful / rejected applications by next week.

By far, Schlumberger's interview is THE HARDEST. It even overtook Shell's high level of standard in terms of interview difficulty.

Nevertheless, the uncertainty with Panasonic's offer still exists within my mind. Not yet sure whether to take it or not. Ya Allah, help me.
